Picture of newspaper article - text same in the post

Last Friday, 18 October, saw Bairnsdale Production Line Theatre Company’s Death of a Salesman receive a well-deserved ovation for their opening night at The Forge Theatre and Arts Hub.

Audiences were treated to some of the best theatre Bairnsdale has seen, with an ensemble cast expertly delivering the sadness and hope at the heart of Arthur Miller’s play.

Following are just some of the comments received from patrons after the performance:

“It drew me in and held me, like I was a part of it. A very moving piece.”
At a point in the second act, I had to remind myself this wasn't a professional show in Melbourne, but amateur theatre at The Forge.”
“Excellent energy for a play with such themes, a must see.”
“Intense, thought provoking, very talented cast.”
“The lighting design was impressive, very well done. The stripped back set was quite effective too.”
“An incredible cast delivering a moving and powerful story. Not light entertainment but very, very worthy of your attention.”
“All I can say is wow! That was a magnificent performance with such depth of feeling. BPLTLC has raised the bar to a great height.”

Those in attendance were not only treated to quality theatre, but a glass of sparkling wine and complimentary supper from Bairnsdale Production Line sponsor, New Leaf Cafe, also awaited them in the foyer. A portion of the profits from Opening Night will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society Assistance Centre Bairnsdale.

Company President, Susan Gibson says

“I am incredibly proud of everybody involved in bringing the show to the stage. The finished result is a testament to the dedication and commitment of a remarkable group of people.”

Director of the show, Judy Taylor said,

It has been a privilege to work with this amazing cast and crew. I am looking forward to the rest of the season as this performance continues to grow and deepen.”

Death of a Salesman will be at The Forge Theatre for one more weekend of shows, with performances at 7.30pm this Friday 25 October and Saturday 26 October and the final matinee performance on Sunday 27 October.
