Well, the plays have been selected, the directors assigned and the dates and locations of performances locked in.
There are four plays and two of the plays are still seeking actors to perform in them, and we'd like you to consider these opportunities.
Susan Hawton, director, and writer, of a very funny comedy has penned the following:
Wanted-6'2" Adonis with red hair. Failing that, one male actor willing to embody the spirit (literally) of one, Henry the VIII as he finds himself in the afterlife waiting for an anger management session and unexpectedly runs into his daughter Elizabeth I'
Next is a request from me, David Cubley, as director of another play that only requires two female actors.
Wanted- 2 x female actors, age range 25 to 45 (ish) willing to stretch the boundaries of their acting in a comedy that will make you laugh and think.
This is a little vague, but if you might be interested, get in touch.
If you haven't read about this venture, the BPLTC One Act Plays are 20 to 40 minutes in duration and have very minimal sets. They can be rehearsed anywhere, anytime, depending on the people involved so are perfect if you have a busy life or can't commit to the usual three months, twice a week rehearsal period. You can even rehearse a play three times per rehearsal!
The plays are very challenging however, and I take them seriously. Venues won't be theatres with stages, wings, and superb lighting and sound. You may be performing a few metres from your audience whose faces you can see, and they may even be eating and drinking during the performance, although probably not because you'll be so brilliant.
Here's the confusing bit, prepare yourself. There have been four plays selected but only three will be performed at each venue.
The dates for performances will be as follows and you'll perform at least four times across these dates.
All are afternoon performances except the evening performance at Bruthen.
1. Bairnsdale: Sunday, 29 June
2. Orbost: Sunday, 6 July
3. Buchan: Sunday, 13 July
4. Bruthen: Friday, 18 July (evening)
5. Lakes Entrance: Sunday, 20 July
These venues have been chosen to take theatre to places in the area that might not have access to live performances, and to benefit local charities and not for profit organisations.
There will also be the opportunity to perform at the Foster One Act Play Festival, which is a competition, and an opportunity to meet, and hopefully beat, people from other theatre groups. Entry into this competition will be entirely up to the members of each play.
Express your interest and send an email to bairnsdaleproductionline@gmail.com and we will be in touch shortly after.
Ssssssso, what are you waiting for?
